Our baby chicks should be arriving in the mail any day now. We still have so much to do and learn before they come!
We can learn together because we have never cared for baby chicks before. I’ve been warned that the mortality rate is pretty high, but I don’t think my heart could take it if we lost any of our new babes!
I’ve also been told (much to my excitement) that baby chicks live inside for quite a while until they are ready to take on the elements from the comfort of their coop!
Whatever we can’t compost, we will feed to the chickens. But they aren’t chickens yet, they’re baby chicks and I have no idea what baby chicks eat. My best guess is creamed corn?
My biggest concern however is keeping our dog from eating any of them. She’s crazy.
I have lots of research to do before my chickies arrive.
